What’s the role?

Our client, the largest independent, U.S. based, private equity fund administrator, is seeking a Fund Accounting Product Manager. The Fund Accounting Product Manager will assist in the implementation of client-facing technology products. This is a high visibility role, with access to senior management and founding members. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Fund Accounting Product Manager will own the product and define, test, and deliver the product in stages using Agile methodology. The ideal candidate has a Fund Accounting background, knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and has moved over to a Business Analyst/Product Manager role. The Fund Accounting Product Manager will serve as a the bridge between technology and the business (accounting), because s/he speaks these two different languages.

  • Hourly Rate: $90-$110/hr, DOE (which if worked full time for a year is the salary equivalent of $187,200 – $228,800/yr) **this role is to be paid based on hours worked**
  • Work Pattern: Monday-Friday, Eastern Standard Time
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract Length: 12 months with opportunity to extend/permanent hire

Your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Work closely with SME and management to understand product scope
  • Solicit and document requirements from business users
  • Backlog / Functionality Management: Work with Fund Accounting/Business departments to translate business requirements and implement those changes to internal systems (Qlik / Intacct backlogs)
  • Document current & future state (e.g. functionality, data flow, reports, etc.)
  • Evaluate the Luxembourg office’s configuration of Intacct accounting system and determine how this configuration will translate in the United States
  • Ensure international consistency amongst accounting practices by reviewing existing accounting practices, identifying nuanced processes, and standardizing processes where possible
  • Own the platform transaction flow process, design, and development roadmap
  • Define automated and manual testing processes to ensure quality of data
  • Liaise with technologists to further understand and document processes
  • Define Success (aka Acceptance) Criteria to ensure all requirements are fulfilled
  • Manage technology deployments and conversions

What knowledge, skills, and experience we need:

  • Ability to translate accounting terms to the technology team
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, a plus
  • 5+ years of business analysis or business systems analysis experience
  • 2+ years of financial services experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, Cap Accounting, IFRS (preferred, not required), and Agile Methodology
  • Private Equity experience a plus
  • Extensive experience with Private Equity systems such as Allvue, Investran, eFront, Qlik, Intacct preferred
  • Familiar with Agile SDLC and/or Project Management methods a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to learn on-the-job quickly, apply learning to recommend solutions to issues
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes in prioritization, processes and procedures
  • Superior problem solving, judgement and decision-making skills
  • Ability to think independently, prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Manage sub-projects
