What’s the role?
Our client, the world’s largest alternative asset manager, is seeking a Valuation Associate within its Valuations & Analytics team. The core focus of the group is to evaluate, analyze and summarize valuation and performance results for our client’s portfolios on a regular basis. In addition, the group is responsible for forecasting financials, producing fund level performance records and analytics, as well as preparing various LP and management reports and requests. Other responsibilities include supporting Discount Cash Flows (DCF), contingent claims analysis, running models for valuations, working with deals teams, forecasting cash flows, developing and testing assumptions, applying market multiples, etc. The successful candidate will have Valuations background knowledge across Real Estate, Private Equity, and strong Excel skills (standard formulas and has valuation experience), investor reporting and performing experience.

Tell Me More:
- Location: In Office Mon-Thurs in NYC or Miami offices; Fridays WFH
- Hourly Rate: $60-$80/hr, DOE (which if worked full time for a year is the salary equivalent of $124,800-$166,400/yr) **this role is to be paid based on hours worked**
- Work Pattern: Monday-Friday, standard business hours
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Length: 6 months – 1 year with opportunity to extend/permanent hire
Your day-to-day activities will include:
- Assisting with updating valuation templates on regular basis, including discounted cash flow (DCF), performance multiple (PM) and other valuation models
- Compiling documentation to support assumptions used in valuation models, assessing underlying assumptions used to develop DCF, performance multiples, and other valuations
- Maintaining, preparing and analyzing summary valuation and performance schedules
- Participating in discussions with and providing deliverables to various constituents
- Updating quarterly planning models to reflect actual performance, and roll future cash flows
- Completing variance analyses
- Assessing value creation drivers that have contributed to changes in valuations over the holding period of each investment
- Assisting in enhancing the group’s reporting processes, procedures and analytics
- Facilitate the quarterly valuation process and preparation of materials. Engage and manage third-party valuation service providers
- Perform valuation calculations and prepare related materials pursuant to firm policies for credit instruments
- Support transactions in multiple capacities, including but not limited to, client allocations, performance, and tracking client capital. Maintain historical cash flow, investment, and performance data
- Assist in the preparation of management materials for valuation committee meetings
- Facilitate the preparation and review of monthly investor communications and other marketing-related schedules and exhibits
- Interface with stakeholders across the firm including but not limited to the Investment team, Investor Relations, and Fund Accounting
What knowledge, skills, and experience we need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a quantitative discipline (preferred)
- 1+ years of experience in a financial role, and a strong academic performance
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to adapt to new challenges in a dynamic environment while handling multiple projects
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize deliverables and meet demanding deadlines
- Ability to work well within a team-oriented environment or individually
- Strong analytical skills
- Previous valuation experience and working knowledge of Capital IQ and Bloomberg are a plus
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required
